The good news? You don’t need to know the names of every flower or arrive at your consultation with everything planned. In fact, that’s exactly what I’m here for.
Here are my top tips for choosing wedding flowers without the overwhelm.
Start with how you want your wedding to feel
Before you think about flower varieties, think about the atmosphere.
Ask yourself:
- Romantic or modern?
- Wild and natural or elegant and refined?
- Colourful and joyful or soft and timeless?
- Cosy autumnal tones or fresh spring pastels?
Your flowers should reflect the feeling of your day, not just what’s trending on Pinterest.
Choose a colour palette, not specific flowers
One of the biggest worries couples have is choosing the “right” flowers.
Instead, choose colours.
Once we know you’re dreaming of soft whites and greens, warm terracottas or rich burgundies, I can recommend beautiful seasonal flowers that work perfectly together.
This also gives you much more flexibility if certain flowers aren’t in season.
Trust the seasons
Some of the most beautiful weddings are created using seasonal flowers.
Not only do they often look more natural and effortless, but they also tend to be fresher and offer incredible texture throughout the year.
Every season has something beautiful to offer.
Save inspiration… but don’t aim to copy it
Pinterest is wonderful for discovering what you’re drawn to.
Instead of trying to recreate one exact bouquet, save images that make you stop scrolling.
After a while you’ll notice patterns.
Maybe you love movement.
Maybe you love lots of texture.
Maybe you’re always drawn to candlelit autumn weddings.
Those patterns tell me far more than one perfect Pinterest image ever could.
Remember… you don’t have to know everything
This is probably the most important one.
You don’t need to know flower names.
You don’t need to know what goes on every table.
You don’t even need to know your exact budget before saying hello.
